In clinical practice, I occasionally receive feedback from patients who say, “After taking the medicine, I don’t feel anything.” However, upon reviewing the treatment, I found that it was very appropriate for their condition. So, I observed and analyzed this phenomenon.
First, we rule out cases where long-term treatment is required or where the disease itself has subtle physical sensations, such as with blood stasis or post-stroke sequelae. These conditions involve deep-seated issues and generally require longer treatment times, so it’s normal for patients not to feel immediate effects during the first few treatments.
However, for some conditions, effects should be noticeable in a short time, such as with liver Qi stagnation or phlegm-dampness.
Recently, I encountered a patient from Sydney who, during diagnosis, I identified as having issues like phlegm-dampness. He told me, “I don’t feel anything unusual in my body, except for pain in a specific area.” In reality, this patient’s physical condition was very poor, and he was already in an advanced cancer stage. After taking a two-week herbal prescription aimed at eliminating phlegm and dampness, theoretically, his body should have shown some reaction—whether it be symptom improvement or some other change. Yet, the online health assessment he filled out didn’t describe a single symptom, except for the diagnosis given by his Western medicine doctor.
This reflects a person who has completely lost touch with their own body. If a person is still in tune with their body, they will surely hear any health signals their body sends. Our sense of health should not be “industrialized” or “labeled.”
I hope that friends reading this article or watching the video, and my patients, take a moment to think seriously about where our hearts are. Where is our self-awareness? Only by understanding where our heart is, maintaining enough communication and awareness with it, can we truly begin the process of healing our bodies!
Remember: seeing a doctor and taking medicine is not the start of our journey to health. The real shift in our mindset happens when we get closer to our heart. This is when the true healing of our body begins.
