A 72-year-old male patient complained of numbness in his right limbs and half of his face after a stroke a few weeks ago, and his blood pressure was high. He was taking western medicines such as antihypertensive drugs, anticoagulants. The degree of stroke is not very serious and does not quite affect daily activities, but due to high blood pressure, the patient is worried about a second stroke but does not want to take antihypertensive drugs for a long time.
Treatment: Using acupuncture treatment, once a week, it took more than a month for the numbness of the limbs to disappear completely. After another two or three months of treatment, the patient’s blood pressure dropped to 100 while taking antihypertensive drugs. Therefore, I recommended that he communicates with his GP to adjust the medicine. Later, the patient decided to stop the antihypertensive medicine, and the blood pressure was maintained at 120mmHg very well. The patient was very happy and the blood pressure was able to return to normal levels, which greatly reduced the risk of a second stroke.
Tip: Acupuncture has unparalleled advantages in the treatment of sequelae of stroke, and the earlier the intervention, the more effective the treatment will be.
